How to Collect Money on Zoom

For the past eighteen months or so, many of us have been spending a great deal of time on Zoom, and with good reason. By making it easy to have meetings without going to a physical location, Zoom has saved us collective millennia of time and effort.

But what if you want to collect money on Zoom? I suppose the simple way would be to put a link in the chat to the charity you want to support or the product you are trying to sell. That strategy, albeit simple, has some drawbacks. First, the chat scrolls as people add to it and your links will disappear from the screen. Second, not everybody looks at the chat, so your links may go unseen.

So here is a drop dead simple way to encourage your viewers to donate or purchase.

Step One: Create a new Zoom account apart from the one that you use for yourself in meetings. Give it a short profile name like “Scan to Donate” or “Scan to Purchase.” Do not assign a profile picture for the time being. Keep the Zoom website open, as we will return to it shortly.

Step Two: Select and copy the link of your charity or product.

Step Three: Open any free QR code generator, such as https://www.qr-code-generator.com. You do not need to purchase any fancy enhancements unless you want to; an ordinary QR code will suffice. Download the resulting image to your desktop or other convenient location.
